The Talmud and the Gospels on Evil

TALMUD: No evil-doer can plead ignorance; for the two ways, the good and the evil, are so distinctly marked that it is impossible to mistake the one for the other. Moses was like the old watchman who sat on the high road where two paths, a stony and a smooth one, who would remain there and constantly warned wayfarers which one to take. (The Talmud, Tanchum Reai)
GOSPEL: Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.(Matthew 7:13-14)

TALMUD: Ninety-nine out of a hundred evils which overtake man can be traced to his own acts. (Talmud, Leviticus Rabba 16)
GOSPELS: How think you? If a man have an hundred sheep and one of them be gone astray, does he not leave the ninety nine and goes into the mountains, and seeks that which is gone astray? And if he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoices more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray. (Matthew 18:12-13)

TALMUD: To entice a man to sin is tantamount to taking his life. (Talmud, Tanchum, Pinchos)
GOSPELS:  Whoever does offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe unto the world because of offences! For it must be that offences come, but woe to that man by whom the offence comes! (Matthew 18:5-7)

TALMUD: Adultery can be committed with the eyes. (The Talmud, Leviticus Rabba 23)
GOSPEL: You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.'But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. (Matthew 5:27-28)

TALMUD: Man's eyes and his heart prompt him to sin. (The Talmud, Numbers Rabba 17)

TALMUD: As the sea throws up its debris upon the shores, so the wicked have filthiness upon their mouths. (Talmud, Midrash Psalms 2)
GOSPELS:  Jesus asked them. 'Don't you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man unclean. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.'  (Matthew 15:16-19)

TALMUD: The truth of the Torah is a weapon to its possessor. (The Talmud, Numbers Rabba 12)
GOSPEL: Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. (Matthew 10:34)

TALMUD: Man has two hands, but he is not to rob with the one and give donations with the other. (Talmud, Midrash Proverbs 11)
GOSPEL: When you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you. (Matthew 6:3-4)
